The summer term episodes of the eighth season of the BBC drama set in a failing inner city comprehensive. Waterloo Road's Head Teacher Michael Byrne (Alec Newman) continues to preside over the school and the variety of problems it faces. In this series a number of new teachers including Audrey McFall (Georgie Glen) and the alcoholic Christine Mulgrew (Laurie Brett) join the cast and bring their virtues and vices to the education of Waterloo's pupils.
