Double-bill of French comedy dramas. In 'Would I Lie to You?' (1997), Eddie Vuibert (Richard Anconina) is broke and going nowhere fast. When he is involved in a street fight, a local fabric-seller comes to his aid and Eddie is soon mistaken for being Jewish. Given a job and a new home, Eddie can't believe his luck - but when he falls for the boss' daughter Sandra (Amira Casar), he starts to worry that the truth might be found out. In the sequel 'Would I Lie to You Again?' (2001), Eddie is trying to help the local Jewish shops deal with a monolithic department store muscling in on their business.
