Britain's best-loved detective series starring Neil Dudgeon as DCI John Barnaby who continues to fight crime in the beautiful but deadly villages of Midsomer. The murder of a journalist has chilling echoes of a 1960s cult horror film starring Midsomer's own Stella Harris. The same film opens the inaugural Midsomer Langley film festival. But Stella's evening is eclipsed by the dramatic arrival of her more famous sister, Diana Davenport, returning after a 40-year family rift. Against the backdrop of sibling rivalry the killings quickly escalate, each of them reminiscent of a movie plot. Is life - and death - imitating art? This DVD also includes an entertaining look behind the scenes with the cast and crew. Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all died at the age of 27 between 1969 and 1971. At the time, the coincidence gave rise to some comment, but it was not until the death of Kurt Cobain, about two and a half decades later, that the idea of a 27 Club began to catch on in public perception, reignited again with the death of Amy Winehouse in 2011. The 27 Club represents just a few of the many well-known singers and musicians who died at that age and this film looks at the phenomenon and tries to understand why these particular stars are so mythologised and celebrated and why indeed their lives ended when they did. Through interviews with musicians, critics, medical experts and featuring unseen footage, the film investigates the lives, music, and artistry of these lost icons, forever frozen in time at the age of 27.

The morning of 6 August 1945 saw the dawn of the atomic age as the bomb which devastated the Japanese city of Hiroshima demonstrated to the world the awful truth of this 'weapon to end all weapons'. Using archive footage this documentary reconstructs the events of that day and traces the military developments which informed the decision to unleash the first weapon of mass destruction upon a largely civilian population. It is followed by a discussion of the main issues by Ludovic Kennedy and Group Captain Leonard Cheshire who acted as an observer with the American forces during the bombings of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki; renowned for his charitable work and efforts in the arena of conflict resolution Baron Cheshire talks candidly here about his personal response regarding the decision to use the bomb. First shown in 1965 the original 26-minute version of Date With History: Hiroshima is available here in a brand-new transfer from original film elements. Also featured is the 1995 re-edit entitled A Date With History which expands the documentary to 55 minutes and elaborates significantly on the 1965 original.
