With his trademark shaggy blonde hair granny glasses and pure impassioned voice John Denver rose from obscurity to become one of the giants of country and western music. Denver lived a turbulent life and dies a tragic premature death but his songs - and legacy continue to enrich the world. 'Take Me Home' traces the triumphs and tragedies that inspired his songs: his struggle for recognition his troubled relationship with his military father his passionate dedication to good causes and how his love of singing tore him apart from the love of his life Annie. Based on Denver's autobiography and featuring some of his greatest songs.
As paranoid cop Del Spooner, Will Smith displays both his trademark quips and some impressive pectoral muscles in I, Robot. Only Spooner suspects that the robots that provide the near future with menial labor are going to turn on mankind--he's just not sure how. When a leading roboticist dies suspiciously, Spooner pursues a trail that may prove his suspicions. Don't expect much of a connection to Isaac Asimov's classic science fiction stories; I, Robot, the action movie, isn't prepared for any ruminations on the significance of artificial intelligence. This likable, efficient movie won't break any new ground, but it does have an idea or two to accompany its jolts and thrills, which puts it ahead of most recent action flicks. Also featuring Bridget Moynahan, Bruce Greenwood, and James Cromwell. --Bret Fetzer

The President lives in the White House. The King lives in Memphis! Elvis Meets Nixon is a 'mockumentary' about The King's - supposed - real-life trip to the White House to become a federal marshal under the DEA but meets 'Tricky Dicky' President Nixon instead. Along the way the film lampoons Elvis's humour; his resentment of The Beatles; his drug problems; and even reveals him pulling out a gun in a doughnut shop! Uh-huh.

A fascinating documentary exploring the rise and fall of 1980s skateboard legend Mark 'Gator' Rogowski. As part of an elite crew of top pros Gator held rank with skate icons Tony Hawk Steve Caballero and Lance Mountain who recall the culture shock of teens colliding with wealth and stardom as big business moved in and skateboarding became a global passion. The charismatic Gator strove for celebrity but when styles in skating shifted his waning fame skidded into infamy with a sh
This imaginative comedy from director Barry Sonnenfeld (Get Shorty) is a lot of fun, largely on the strength of Will Smith's engaging performance as the rookie partner of a secret agent (Tommy Lee Jones) assigned to keep tabs on Earth-dwelling extra-terrestrials. There's lots of comedy to spare in this bright film, some of the funniest stuff found in the margins of the major action (a scene with Smith's character being trounced in the distance by a huge alien while Jones questions a witness is a riot.) The inventiveness never lets up, and the cast--including Vincent D'Onofrio doing frighteningly convincing work as an alien occupying a decaying human--hold up their end splendidly. --Tom Keogh, Amazon.com On the DVD: This Collector's Edition disc contains a "Visual Commentary" that features director Barry Sonenfeld and actor Tommy Lee Jones in an anecdotal conversation, but with the unique twist that they are displayed as silhouettes on your TV screen (imagine you're sitting in the back row of the cinema and they are up front) using a pointer to highlight particular events on screen. If you have a widescreen TV, the menu prompts you to switch to 4:3 mode to see this. There is also a "Visual Effects Scene Deconstruction" in which the tunnel scene and the Edgar Bug fight scene are dissected into their constituent parts; an in-depth documentary, "Metamorphosis of MIB", which charts the progress of the concept from comic book to screen; five "Extended and Alternate" scenes; trailers, including a teaser for MIB II; and Will Smith's "Men in Black" music video. --Mark Walker
