Televised miniseries in which a withdrawn research programme undertaken by a highly regarded solar physicist is resurfaced by his assisting colleague, causing worldwide chaos and destruction. When Dr. Michael Ranger (Matthew Modine) decides to abandon his work after the Pentagon insists on using it as a military weapon, his lesser experienced colleague Dr. Jane Whitlow (Maxim Roy) unearths his discoveries and continues the research. When the weapon causes the sun to release deadly solar flares, the planet begins to deteriorate rapidly which spells inevitable disaster for life on Earth. Dr. Ranger must quickly come up with a plan to prevent a potential apocalypse and allow for the planet to continue its sustainability of life.
