  Tennessee Williams based his screenplay on Oscar Saul's adaptation of Williams' own Pulitzer Prize-winning play set in a grimy New Orleans project. The story of the fragile sentimentalism of a woman who visits her sister only to be taunted mercilessly by her childish brother-in-law. This classic film garnered 12 Academy Award Nominations (including Best Picture Best Director Best Actor (Marlon Brando) and Best Screeplay) winning 4 including Best Actress (Vivien Leigh) Best Supporting Actress (Kim Hunter) and Best Supporting Actor (Karl Malden). This version features three minutes of footage that was deleted from the final 1951 release version upon demands made by the Production Code footage thought lost until its rediscovery in the early 1990s. This DVD release is the fully restored version of Elia Kazan's original cut and the documentary 'Desire And Censorship' on Disc 2 describes his struggle in getting the past the censors.

  Once in a while, studio heads actually make sensible decisions. Kudos to whoever at Trimark screened the embarrassing True Crime, an overwrought, under thought, "mystery" and decided, "You know, we really don't need to let the American public see this," and immediately sent it straight to video. Probably the one most pleased by the decision was Alicia Silverstone, who didn't need this type of thing getting a theatrical distribution and hurting her blossoming career. As for Kevin Dillon? Well, he was probably happy just to get paid. Silverstone plays the teen Nancy-Drew-meets-Encyclopedia-Brown protagonist who teams up with fresh-faced police cadet Dillon to try to bag a serial killer who's been butchering teenage girls at travelling carnivals in various cities. Writer-director Pat Verducci packs his thriller with implausible detective work and numerous plot twists, all visible 20 minutes away. The "shock" ending can pretty much be worked out within the first act, leaving viewers another hour to watch Verducci concoct several amateur dream sequences, and explore a disgusting sexual relationship between Silverstone and Dillon. Not long after arriving John and Laura meet two elderly sisters, one of whom believes herself to be physic and insists that she has seen the spirit of John and Laura's daughter. She also insists that John has the physic ability also and must leave the city as he is in great danger. Laura becomes concerned but John doesn't believe any of it and is unfazed. Soon after this John begins to worry for his sanity as he starts to see disturbing images of his daughter walking the streets in a red coat. As John becomes more and more intrigued Laura becomes more concerned about his well-being as a series of murders take place in the city. Don't look now was the third film from visionary director Nicolas Roeg (Performance) and was one of the most powerful and enterprising movies of the 1970's well known for its notorious sex scene between Sutherland and Christie.
