A stylized work with a gritty urban soundtrack and a cast of intricately developed characters 'Snatch' delivers superb and witty dialogue while depicting one of the more zany complex diamond heists ever portrayed in film. London (2005): Syd is a strung-out wealthy 20-year old guy whose life is about to go from meaningless to futile. After a massive drug spree he awakes to the news that he is about to lose his ""one true love"" forever... Syd's ex-girlfriend is moving from New York to Los Angeles. Syd has one more chance to win her back at her going-away party. Syd stocks up on cocaine and goes off to the party with Bateman a young English banker he's just met. Throughout the evening however - punctuated by regular drug breaks in the bathroom - we discover that Syd's relationship problems involve more than friction with his girlfriend. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Crank (2006): A professional hit man Chev Chelios (Jason Statham) discovers that a poisonous injection threatens to kill him if his heart rate drops slows a certain point. Henson Tilda Swinton Jason Flemyng Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond Benjamin Button is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way the loves he finds the joys of life and the sadness of death and what lasts beyond time. The Assassination of Jesse JamesEveryone in 1880s America knows Jesse James. He's the nation's most notorious criminal hunted by the law in 10 states. He's also the land's greatest hero lauded as a Robin Hood by the public. Robert Ford meanwhile is a nobody. That however isn't something the ambitious 19-year-old will settle for. He'll befriend Jesse join his gang and gain his confidence and eventually become his downfall.

  Trauma was director Dario Argento's big crossover attempt at combining the Italian giallo genre with the American stalk 'n' slash. His fans may debate whether the result was a complete success, but the film certainly put his name in front of a wider international audience. Essentially the story is a psycho-murderer-mystery, with the audience made to piece together clues towards the identity-revealing denouement. The movie comes alive as a result of suitably intense performances, even while the characters die. Piper Laurie and Brad Dourif supply atypically explosive cameos. The leads are contrastingly subdued for the most part, no doubt because of their characters' involvement with drugs. Asia Argento (the director's daughter) is an anorexic who witnesses her parents' decapitations among a series of similar murders by the notorious "Headhunter". Christopher Rydell plays the ex-junkie who takes her in and helps track down the killer. Backing them up are some even greater performances from Tom Savini's eye-boggling special FX. With the aid of a motorised garrotte, the beheadings are gruesomely real, especially the one that leaves a head still able to talk. On the DVD: Trauma comes to disc in full 2.35:1 widescreen, though this isn't the clearest of transfers (plenty of artefacts present). The sound is in an unspecified Dolby mix. An interesting selection of extras almost makes up for the lack of a commentary. There are filmographies of Dario and Asia, a gallery of behind-the-scenes stills, and trailers for the movie Phantom of the Opera and several more in this series of releases. More interesting are the text features: interviews with Asia on her memories of the shoot and with renegade horror director Richard Stanley surreally recalling his long-term fandom of everything Argento. Most fascinating, there's a mini-essay on what was cut and why by the BBFC for the original UK video release. --Paul Tonks

  Released amidst rumours of romance between co-stars Angelina Jolie and soon-to-be-divorced Brad Pitt, Mr. and Mrs. Smith offers automatic weapons and high explosives as the cure for marital boredom. The premise of this exhausting action-comedy (no relation to the Alfred Hitchcock comedy starring Carole Lombard and Robert Montgomery) is that the unhappily married Smiths (Pitt and Jolie) will improve their relationship once they discover their mutually-hidden identities as world-class assassins, but things get complicated when their secret-agency bosses order them to rub each other out. There's plenty of amusing banter in the otherwise disposable screenplay by Simon Kinberg (xXx: State of the Union, Fantastic Four), and director Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) gives Pitt and Jolie a slick, glossy superstar showcase that's innocuous but certainly never boring. It could've been better, but as an action-packed summer confection, Mr. and Mrs. Smith kills two hours in high style. --Jeff Shannon
