Let's hope that darned generator doesn't give out... Island of Terror isn't going to keep you awake at night but it is a lot of silly fun. Be warned though - whatever the evil menace is it can climb trees! The Blood Beast Terror (Dir. Vernon Sewell 1968): A Victorian English entomologist whose daughter happens to be a giant moth moves with her to a quiet village where he can begin work on an insect mate for her. His family problems worsen when his winged daughter starts killing people and drinking their blood. Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell (Dir. CBS Salutes Lucy, a 1976 tribute to Lucille Ball, captures prize moments from her three television series (most notably I Love Lucy), highlights from her movie career, and excerpts from numerous other TV appearances. Each segment of the 97-minute special is introduced by famous cohorts, from series regulars such as ex-husband Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and Gale Gordon to sometime co-workers like John Wayne, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dick Van Dyke. Although she lived another 13 years after this special was made and had a fourth go at a TV series, this programme captures the most brilliant moments of her trademark physical comedy. The red-haired queen of American comedy appears at the end when Jimmy Stewart gives her an honorary plaque, making for a nostalgic moment. A short time later the credits roll, revealing that Ball's production company was behind the tribute, reminding viewers that she wasn't a bad businesswoman either. --Kimberly Heinrichs, Amazon.com

It's not easy being an ogre, but Shrek finds it doubly difficult for an ogre like himself to fill in for a king when his father-in-law King Harold of Far, Far Away falls ill in this third Shrek movie. Shrek's attempts to fulfill his kingly duties play like a blooper reel, with boat christenings and knighting ceremonies gone terribly wrong, and to say that Shrek (Mike Myers) is insecure about his new role is a gross understatement. When King Harold (John Cleese) passes away, Shrek sets out with Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and Puss-in-Boots (Antonio Banderas) to find Arthur (Justin Timberlake), the only heir in line for the throne besides himself. Just as Shrek sets sail to find Artie (as Arthur is more commonly known), Fiona (Cameron Diaz) shocks Shrek with the news that she's pregnant. Soon after, Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) sends Captain Hook (Ian McShane) in pursuit of Shrek and imprisons Fiona and her fellow Princesses as part of his plan to install himself as King of Far, Far Away. Shrek finds an awkward Artie jousting with his high school classmate Lancelot (John Krasinski) and, while Artie is certainly no picture of kingliness, Shrek is determined to drag him back to Far, Far Away to assume the throne. Mishaps and comedy abound, including a spell gone wrong that locks Donkey and Puss-in-Boots inside one another's bodies. While Fiona and the other Princesses prove they're anything but helpless women, Artie and Shrek battle their own fears of inadequacy in a struggle to discover their own self-worth. In the end, Shrek, Artie, and Fiona each learn a lot about their individual strengths and what truly makes each of them happy. Of course, it's the pervasive humour and wit that make Shrek 3 so side-splittingly appealing. --Tami Horiuchi

Beethoven is back and he's about to get his big Hollywood break and perhaps find a new family in the process. Lizard trainer Eddie (Jonathan Silverman) has a very no-nonsense attitude toward animals: they are a business investment, not pets. Eddie's son Billie (Hannah Montana's Moises Arias) yearns for a dog of his own, but his father refuses to bend his no-pets policy, even when Billie rescues a huge St. Bernard from the city streets. Billie quickly dubs the dog Beethoven due to the dog's fascination with a televised concert of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony and Eddie grudgingly agrees to let Beethoven spend one night at the house. When a movie-star dog is dognapped, Eddie is fired, but in a fluke is hired as head animal trainer when the film's director, Stanley (Eddie Griffin), and producer Patricia (Cheers' Rhea Perlman) choose Beethoven to replace Frizzy in the film. As Beethoven worms his way into the home and hearts of Eddie and Billie, show writer Lisa (Jennifer Finnigan) starts hanging out at their house to rewrite the show and Billie and Eddie have never been happier in their lives. When Beethoven is dognapped, Eddie, Billie, and Lisa learn a lot about themselves, what comprises a family, and what's really important in life as they battle to save Beethoven. This film is full of hilarious escapades by the lovable, overly exuberant Beethoven and is appealing to the entire family despite its PG rating for some mild rude humour. --Tami Horiuchi
