This special DVD and audio collection looks at the incredible career of a true super star featuring 20 superb songs and the full length feature film 'At War With The Army'. At War with the Army is a zany comedy starring the irrepressible Dean Martin and his long time film partner Jerry Lewis set in a WWII army training camp. The guys are the best of buddies in civvy street but it just isn't the same when they enlist in the army. The smart and streetwise Vic Puccinelli (Dean Martin) is given an elevated rank of 1st Sergeant whereas the 'challenged' Alvin Korwin (Jerry Lewis) has to settle for the lesser rank of private. The object of the training camp is to beef up be ready for combat and be able to take orders without question. Alvin is not going to be good at this as he soon discovers. His best friend Vic is no longer the guy to share a joke...he doesn't laugh any more he only shouts! Will Alvin ever get the hang of this 'soldier' thing - will he ever see his friend Vic again? A great knockabout comedy in typical Lewis style with the added laid back humour of the brilliant Dean Martin...marvellous! Over the course of three nights at Hollywood's Pantages Theatre in December 1983, filmmaker Jonathan Demme joined creative forces with cinematographer Jordan Cronenweth and Talking Heads ... and miracles occurred. Following a staging concept by singer-guitarist David Byrne, this euphoric concert film transcends that all-too-limited genre to become the greatest film of its kind. A guaranteed cure for anyone's blues, it's a celebration of music that never grows old, fuelled by the polyrhythmic pop-funk precision that was a Talking Heads trademark, and lit from within by the geeky supernova that is David Byrne. The staging--and Demme's filming of it--builds toward an orgasmic release of music, rising from the bare-stage simplicity of Byrne, accompanied only by a boom box on "Psycho Killer" to the ecstatic crescendo of "Burning Down the House", by which time the Heads and additional personnel have all arrived on stage for a performance that seems channelled from heaven for the purpose of universal uplift. (God bless Demme for avoiding shots of the luckiest audience in 80s pop history; its presence is acknowledged but not at the viewer's expense.) With the deliriously eccentric Byrne as ringleader (pausing mid-concert to emerge in his now-legendary oversized suit), this circus of musical pleasure defies the futility of reductive description; it begs to be experienced, felt in the heart, head and bones, and held there the way we hold on to cherished memories. On those three nights in December 1983, Talking Heads gave love, life, and joy in generous amounts that years cannot erode, and Demme captured this act of creative goodwill on film with minimalist artistic perfection. Stop Making Sense is an invitation to pleasure that will never wear out its welcome. --Jeff Shannon

Sun Records the brainchild of Sam Phillips began life at 706 Union Avenue Memphis in 1949. Sam Phillips' motto was ""We Record Anything - Anywhere - Anytime"" and in 1954 he signed the first of what was to become known as the Million Dollar Quartet: Elvis Presley Johnny Cash Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins. In 1954 Elvis actually paid Sun Records for the privilege of making his first recording and Johnny Cash finally plucked up the courage to audition for Sam Phillips' and Sam was singularly unimpressed - by either of them. Luckily they persevered and he changed his mind and thus began the rise of two of the greatest stars of the music world. This amazing DVD captures over 30 of the early performances of Presley and Cash as they were taking their first steps on the ladder to stardom and international fame and on the accompanying audio CD they are joined by their Million Dollar Quartet cohorts Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins in a truly memorable collection of recordings.

From the groundbreaking director of Rock Hudson's Home Movies Mark Rappaport takes us on a hilarious and provocative romp through the hidden and not-so-hidden gay undercurrents of Hollywood's Golden Years. Dan Butler (Fraiser) acts as tour guide as he uncovers - despite efforts to launder American cinema of even the faintest traces of gay influences - Hollywood's squeamish fascination with gay eroticism and camp. Through the use of ingenious film clips along with Rappaport's signature witty insights The Silver Screen: Colour Me Lavender brilliantly uncovers the unmistakable homoerotic flirtations and the ambiguous behaviour that richly imbued the performances of Danny Kaye Jerry Lewis Cary Grant and other film legends. The Silver Screen: Colour Me Lavender is a rich and funny mediation on American sexual identity film history and culture that will change the way you look at butch westerns or the campy charades of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby in their buddy road movies forever.

The one film in John Cusack's filmography he'd probably like us all to forget, this 80s-style preppy-in-peril film (compare and contrast with After Hours and Something Wild) casts him as a college student who gets mixed up with pirates and drug runners around the Caribbean. The wannabe screwball comedy falls flatter with each gag but Cusack's hang-dog sweetness and knack with one-liners carries it through and at the very least it's worth catching if only for a glimpse of Ben Stiller in his pre-There's Something About Mary fame days, in a double act here with his real-life father Jerry Stiller. --Leslie Felperin

From the moment Yogacise begins--with adorning shots of a heavily made-up Jerry Hall--it's hard to take it seriously. The brainwave of teacher Vimla Lalvani is a combination of the ancient system of yoga and stretching and is intended to help urban stressful living. However, Lalvani and celebrity student Jerry Hall seem to be appealing to an older, wealthy lady whose stress comes from where to lunch. Aside from working out the fusion between yoga and stretching (isn't yoga based on stretching?), the format of the video is difficult to follow. With a multitude of graphics competing for attention, and the constant switch between three set locations (resembling Christmas Grottos), this is stressful viewing. Added to this is the fact that for the majority of the programme Lalvani and Hall face each other--a profile view of the positions is difficult to replicate if you're a beginner. The addition of a voice-over makes it hard to coordinate the movements. Vimla Lalvani is an established teacher with no need for gimmicks and it would have been far more interesting to see the Jerry Hall we don't know, rather than Mick Jagger's ex-missus looking like she's on the set of a hair and make-up ad. --Lorna V
