Peter Pan - Return To Neverland | DVD | (28/05/2007)
from £6.47
| Saving you £13.52 (208.96%)
| RRP Peter Pan soars back onto the screen in Disney's all-new animated feature, Return to Never Land. This sequel to the 1953 classic Peter Pan has a reassuringly old-fashioned feel, with computer-generated images and more-traditional artwork cleverly blended to recall the original. Wendy, now married with children, is living in a London ravaged by the blitz. Every night she enchants her small son with tales of pirates and Pan to distract him from the bombings but her serious young daughter Jane finds the stories of magic and fairies unconvincing in the face of a war-torn reality. After a fairly slow beginning establishing the bleak backdrop and the various characters--Jane's smug conscientiousness grates at times--the scene is set for the adventure to begin; and once the nefarious Hook and crew loom into sight, things really take off--literally. In Never Land nothing much has changed: the dastardly Captain Hook, now tormented by a clicking octopus rather than a ticking crocodile, just wants to be hated; his crew remain bloodthirsty but bumbling; and feisty fairy Tinker Bell shimmers around in a jealous strop when another female appears on the scene. Unfortunately, the story line hasn't changed much either, being a thin re-working of the original, although there is an interesting mirroring between mother and daughter--one who was afraid to grow-up and the other distrustful of childhood, with its emphasis on fun and lack of responsibility. It was never going to be easy to follow the original Peter Pan but Return to Never Land is an engaging sequel and the uplifting "So To Be One of Us" is Disney music at its best. Coupling: Complete Series 3 | DVD | (22/09/2003)
from £4.89
| Saving you £15.10 (308.79%)
| RRP The third series of Coupling, first aired in 2002, takes fans of the BBC's comedy of sex, manners and modern relationships into new realms of engaging surrealism, leaving those irritating comparisons with Friends trailing in its wake. The men are constantly in pursuit of a basic grasp of the "emotional things" that make women behave the way they do. The women analyse everything to death. But thanks to Steve Moffat's scripts, tighter and quirkier than ever, these characters are living, breathing human beings rather than cynical ciphers for comedy stereotypes. The performances are as strong as you'd expect from an established team, with actors such as Jack Davenport (the ever-perplexed Steve), Ben Miles (unreconstructed chauvinist Patrick), Sally Alexander (dryly intelligent Susan) and Kate Isitt (neurotic Sally) wearing their roles like second skins. But in the surreal stakes, it's Richard Coyle as Jeff, wondering aloud what happens to jelly after women have finished wrestling in it, and Gina Bellman as Jane, musing on the importance of a first snog in identifying what men like to eat, who really raise the laughter levels. All things considered, this is superior comedy for all thirtysomethings--genuine and putative. --Piers Ford

British & Irish Lions Tour 2017: The Official Highlights | DVD | (11/09/2017)
from £5.59
| Saving you £N/A (N/A%)
| RRP Re-live the British & Irish Lions Tour to New Zealand in 2017, deemed by many as the greatest series ever, with this DVD which features all the key action from each of the three tests. Up against the best team in world rugby this series was never going to be an easy feat for the tourists, and what followed was an epic, closely fought battle, ending with honours even and the Lions standing proud and untamed. The first test was played at the All Blacks' Auckland fortress, Eden Park, where they have not lost a game since 1994. After one of the greatest tries in Lions history the match was fairly even heading into halftime, but the All Blacks proved too strong in the second half and broke away to win 30-15. A must-win second test lay ahead for the Lions on a rainy night in Wellington. In a match packed with drama, including a red card for Sonny Bill Williams, the Lions were trailing 18-9 with 20 minutes to play. What followed had Lions fans watching in disbelief and delight as two brilliant tries and a late penalty kick from Owen Farrell secured the win and sent the series to a decider. The final test is a contest that no rugby fan will ever forget. The All Blacks started the game on fire, scoring two tries in the first half to lead 12-6 at the break. Still, the game was not over and in true Lions fashion they fought their way back to 3 points behind with just 10 minutes to play. Another Owen Farrell penalty sailed over in the 77th minute to bring them level, and ultimately draw the test series for the first time against New Zealand and re-write the history books. Featuring highlights of the first test and every second of action from the second and third tests, as well as post-match interviews, watch the enthralling story of this historic tied series between the Lions and the All Blacks unfold. No one will ever forget the Lions Tour of 2017.
