| RRP Celebrated as the 'Godfather of British Horror', Pete Walker is one of the most controversial exploitation filmmakers of the '60s and '70s. Graduating from saucy sex comedies and gangland dramas, Walker finally found tabloid infamy making gore-splattered horror movies (or terror movies as he preferred to call them). His first X-rated thriller Die Screaming, Marianne shocked audiences, and subsequent films like House of Whipcord established his reputation for sadistic and bloody horror, cementing his status as the biggest cult British filmmaker of his generation. Now for the very first time, Walker's seventies' horror movies are collected on Blu-ray in this terrifying new box-set, starring a host of famous faces: Robin Askwith (Horror Hospital), Stephanie Beacham (Inseminoid), Ann Michelle (Virgin Witch), Susan Penhaligon (The Uncanny), Luan Peter (Hammer's Lust for a Vampire) and his favourite actress, and omnipresent 'scary old lady', Sheila Keith. The Pete Walker Heritage Collection brings together Die Screaming, Marianne (1971), The Flesh and Blood Show (1972), House of Whipcord (1974), Frightmare (1974), House of Mortal Sin (1976) Schizo (1977) and The Comeback (1978), all presented here in brand new HD restorations, and featuring a scary array of exclusive extras, including brand-new interviews with Walker himself. Deconstructing Harry | DVD | (04/02/2002)
from £N/A
| Saving you £N/A (N/A%)
| RRP Woody Allen roared back at his detractors with Deconstructing Harry, a bitterly funny treatise about the creative process. Known to mine his often tumultuous personal life for his movies, the embattled writer-director-star didn't bother to make his alter ego likable in this movie: Harry Block (Allen) pops pills, frequents prostitutes and cheats on the women in his life, then writes about their foibles in thinly disguised fiction. No wonder they're all furious with him. As Harry journeys to his alma mater with a hooker, ill pal and kidnapped son, a series of flashbacks unravel, juxtaposing Harry's relationships with their "slightly exaggerated" fictional counterparts. There are amusing cameos throughout, including a humorous turn by Demi Moore as a fictitious ex-wife who "became Jewish with a vengeance" and Billy Crystal as the devil who found Hollywood too nasty for his liking. The humour is dark and caustic but well worth it; Deconstructing Harry is a near-brilliant meditation on the sometimes queasy relationship between art, creator and critic.--Diane Garrett

Following the death of their parents Flora and Miles are left in the care of repressed governess Miss Jessel and housekeeper Mrs Grose. But it is Peter Quint the malevolent Irish servant who truly rules the household; Miss Jessel equally repulsed and fascinated by Quint is drawn into a secret sado-masochistic affair with him while Flora and Miles are increasingly in his thrall...
