| RRP Malti (Meena Kumari) and Amar (Sunil Dutt) both are orphans and are happily married to each other with a loving child Raja. Amar works for Prakash (Ashok Kumar) a bachelor and a very genuine human being who becomes their close family friend. One day Amar catches Bihari (Jeevan) and his accomplice red handed while trying to cheat the company and he has them taken to task. They in turn decide to avenge their humiliation. To save Malti's honour Prakash marries her but it is difficult to make little Raja come to terms with his father's demise and accept Prakash in this role.
