Lil Wayne (aka Dwayne Michael Carter Jr.) began his career in music when he was a teenager; at eighteen, he became part of the Dirty South rap music family at Cash Money Records, but in time he matured into one of the most idiosyncratic and original voices in hip hop, and earned a new degree of critical respect with his 2004 The Carter as well as his many mixtapes. In 2008, Lil Wayne confirmed his status as rap's star of the moment when his album Tha Carter III sold over a million copies in its first week of release. That same year, Lil Wayne granted filmmaker Adam Bhala Lough full access as he hit the road for a concert tour, and THE CARTER is a revealing behind-the-scenes documentary which follows the rapper as he travels from town to town, discusses his music with journalists, talks frankly about his life and career, indulges in his passion for marijuana and codeine cough syrup, and constantly puts down new musical ideas on the portable recording rig that's his constant companion.

Robin of Sherwood? No he'd rather hide under trees to avoid any bruising to his perfect face or creasing of his lovely non-catalogue green outfit. Contrary to popular belief it was Marian - strong brave blonde and bossy - who led the merry men. That would be the merry lethargic witless and everso slightly incompetent men! Episodes comprise: 1. The Big Baby 2. Driving Ambition 3. Keeping Mum 4. They Came From Outer Space 5. Robin And The Beansprout 6. The Great Mud Harvest Maid Marian And Her Merry Men was consistently number 1 in the children's TV ratings throughout its four series partly because it was popular with children of all ages but also because it became ""must see"" viewing for students and young adults. It was popular with the critics too winning a Bafta an RTS Award and the International Prix Jeunesse. This perfectly conceived historical farce is witty warm and stylish. An excellent cast and faultless writing has drawn comparisons to Blackadder Red Dwarf and The Young Ones. • John Wayne -Serial Thrillers [1932]John Wayne -Serial Thrillers | DVD | (01/09/2008) from £N/A   |  Saving you £N/A (N/A%)   |  RRP £12.99

With a legacy of leading roles in more than 100 movies along with appearances in countless other works John Wayne would have been 101 years old this year (2008). Wayne's career spanned a 50-year period from the pre-Depression '20s to the politically turbulent '70s but the nature of his films has remained relatively constant. As Wayne himself is said to have quipped I play John Wayne in pretty much every film I do and I've done pretty well so far havn't I? This persona served him well through an early career of serials and B-westerns to higher profile roles including more westerns and war films culminating with his Oscar win for best actor in True Grit. Though Wayne a.k.a. the Duke is respectfully remembered by people with different political philosophies the actor was known in his day as a staunch Republican. The actor lost his battle with cancer in 1979 but his large body of work lives on as a testament to this legendary figure. The Hurricane Express: Being one of Wayne's earliest films The Hurricane Express was actually a serial in 12 parts released in 1932. There aren't any cowboys or horses around for this adventure but there's plenty of action! Baby-faced John Wayne plays an airplane pilot whose father a train engineer is killed when some fiend who calls himself The Wrecker causes the Hurricane Express to crash. Baker (Wayne) swears he will catch the man who killed his father however in true western style the villain always has a way of escaping time and time again (largely due to having a number of life-like masks). The good guys and the bad guys are constantly hopping from trains to cars to airplanes and back again but John Wayne never gives up! The Three Musketeers: All for one and one for all in this action-packed 12 part serial adaptation of Alexander Dumas's 'The Three Musketeers'. Tom Wayne (John Wayne) is a fugitive from justice framed for a murder he did not commit. El Shaitan the mysterious and diabolical leader of the Devil's Circle a group who are plotting an Arab rebellion against the Foreign Legion is to blame. It's up to Tom's sweetheart Elaine (Ruth Hall) and the trustworthy Three Musketeers - Clancy (Jack Mulhall) Renard (Raymond Hatton) and Schmidt (Ralph Bushman) - to put an end to his reign of terror and clear Tom's name. Tom and The Three Musketeers narrowly escape death in episode after episode as they saddle up for a Sahara thrill ride in the name of truth justice and brotherhood! Shadow Of The Eagle: A real treat for John Wayne fans. The action and adventure the mystery and suspense is non stop in this original 12 part serial. Wayne plays Craig McCoy a stunt pilot who's part of a traveling fair. When a mysterious pilot known as The Eagle starts making murderous threats with sky-writing our guy jumps into action to try and find this villain. All the performers of the travelling fair get involved in one way or another. Some are prime suspects (for a while) others like the strong man and the ventriloquist use their talents to help catch the criminal. Suspect everyone suspect no one. The upper hand and evidence jumps back and forth between the bad guys and the good guys.

  • The Time Of Your Life [1948]The Time Of Your Life | DVD | (01/07/2002) from £N/A   |  Saving you £N/A (N/A%)   |  RRP £16.99

When James Cagney starred in the movie adaptation of The Time of Your Life in 1948, it was hotly been debated whether William Saroyan’s stage play was really filmable at all. Because of its small cast, because all the action takes place on a single claustrophobic set, because the "plot" consists entirely of sub-plots, and because Saroyan’s "dirty sentimentality" isn’t to everyone’s taste, such doubts are still understandable today. However, accept the movie for what it is--a play in a box--and you’ll be captivated. The story revolves around a slightly down-at-heel bar-restaurant, where a group of disparate characters come and go as their stories gradually unfold. They include an ex-prostitute desperately seeking a new life, a dancer looking for a break into showbusiness, a down-and-out who discovers a vocation as a pianist, a beer-sodden cowboy and a villainous "stoolie" who, needless to say, gets his comeuppance. This gaggle of misfits is presided over by an enigmatic, champagne-drinking philanthropist (brilliantly played by Cagney) who gently nudges them towards their goals while indulging his own fascination with the minutiae of daily life. Throughout this quietly delightful picture the audience are not told why he’s this way, but it is possible to make an educated guess. On the DVD: The Time of Your Life might be a classic, but it apparently warrants no extra features. The black and white picture is 4:3. --Roger Thomas
