Collection of John Wayne films. In 'Jet Pilot' (1957), at the height of the Cold War, relations between the United States of America and the Soviet Union are very frosty indeed. However, ace American pilot Colonel Shannon (Wayne) finds himself thawing a little when he meets Anna (Janet Leigh), a beautiful young woman from the wrong side of the Iron Curtain. In 'Stagecoach' (1939), Native American Geronimo is on the warpath in the untamed Wild West, but a stagecoach-load of travellers decide to take their chances and make their way across Utah's Monument Valley. In 'Back to Bataan' (1945), Colonel Joseph Madden (Wayne) helps liberate the Japanese prison camp Cabanatuan on the island of Bataan, only to remain there in order to organise a guerilla movement against the enemy. In 'Fort Apache' (1948), Colonel Thursday (Henry Fonda) is bitter at having been sent to battle 'digger' Indians, and his textbook methods of warfare appear barbaric and suicidal to his men. Captain York (Wayne), an officer experienced in Apache warfare, tries to advise Thursday, but his best efforts are in vain. In 'Sands of Iwa Jima' (1949), hard-bitten sergeant John M. Stryker (Wayne) earns the enmity of the recruits he trains for action in the Pacific. New recruit Peter Conway's (John Agar) dislike for his commander turns to respect, however, when the latter saves him from a grenade. In 'The Conqueror' (1956), Wayne stars as Mongol chieftain Temujin, better known as Ghengis Khan. Susan Hayward co-stars as Bortai, the Tartar princess who is captured by Ghengis Khan and eventually falls in love with him. In 'She Wore a Yellow Ribbon' (1949), dutiful cavalry officer Nathan Brittles (Wayne) is reluctant to retire in the face of an imminent Native American uprising. His last official task is to escort the commander's wife and her niece to the Sudrow's Wells stagecoach stop, but it proves to be a journey fraught with danger. Finally, in 'Tall in the Saddle' (1944), newly-arrived ranch foreman Rocklin (Wayne) finds himself involved in a love triangle and a murder mystery when he discovers that his new boss has been murdered.
