Takashi Nakamura and Michael Arias co-direct this Japanese anime based on Project Itoh's sci-fi novel. In a futuristic utopia known as 'Maelstrom', a group of young girls, led by Miach Mihie (voice of Reina Ueda), rebel against society's ideals and aspirations and vow to all attempt suicide. Tuan Kirie (Miyuki Sawashiro), however, fails to do so and outlives her friends. Years later, while working for the World Health Organisation, Tuan is forced to revisit her past when another mass suicide takes place and she suspects her old friend Miach Mihie may again be involved.
