Backstage musical in which the leading lady sprains her ankle before the first night and is replaced by a chorus girl (Ruby Keeler). With dance sequences by Busby Berkeley. This film about a Broadway musical was the basis for an actual Broadway musical. In black and white, though a colourised version exists.
