Horror Collection (Stan Helsing/I Sell The Dead/My Name Is Bruce) DVD

| DVD

Stan Helsing: In this insane spoof every horror movie ever made comes hilariously to life as slacker Stan and his stoner pals try to deliver videos to a deserted California town on Halloween night. After being stalked by realistic replicas of horror characters Freddy Kruger Pinhead and The Creeper our gang arrives in the small burg which formerly contained a horror movie studio - hence the throngs of freaky familiar characters literally crawling the streets. Our crew of two mischievous guys and two sexy girls outwit and outslash every cinematic horror character - or... in the case of Michael Jackson merely horrific - to uncover the town's shocking secret: the studio's still at it making movies of a very ahem different kind. When the creatures won't let our heroes leave Stan decides to live up to his monster-slaying namesake's destiny. But first he must endure a Survivor-style competition: gobbling down body parts! Risqu'' righteous revolting and ridiculous Stan Helsing is more than a slayer - it's totally killer. I Sell The Dead: 19th century justice has finally caught up to grave robbers Arthur Blake (Dominic Monaghan) and Willie Grimes (Larry Fessenden). With the specter of the guillotine looming over him young Blake confides in visiting clergyman Father Duffy (Ron Perlman) recounting fifteen years of adventure in the resurrection trade. His tale leads from humble beginnings as a young boy stealing trinkets from corpses to a partnership with seasoned ghoul Willie Grimes as they hunt creatures unwilling to accept their place in the ground. The colourful and peculiar history of Grimes and Blake is one filled with adventure horror and vicious rivalries that threaten to put all involved in the very graves they're trying to pilfer. My Name Is Bruce: Something evil is stirring in the small mining town of Gold Lick and it's not happy. Guan-di the Chinese protector of the dead has been awakened by reckless teenagers and now his bloody crusade to wipe out the town's entire population can only be stopped by one man - Bruce Campbell (the guy who starred in all three Evil Dead movies and Bubba Ho-tep) B-movie star and deadbeat ex-husband extraordinaire who's recruited to be their unwitting savior. When our hero faces off against a dark force more fearsome than a Hollywood agent the laughs and screams start flying! [show more]

Comedy horror triple. 'Stan Helsing' (2009) is a horror spoof telling the story of a descendant of the famous vampire hunter who discovers his true destiny one fateful Halloween night. Marooned in the appropriately named 'Stormy Night Estates' with his friends on Halloween, video store clerk Stan Helsing (Steve Howey) comes face to face with almost exact facsimiles of the horror world's most famous monsters, including Needlehead (Charles Zuckermann), Fweddy (Ben Cotton), Pleatherface (Twan Holliday), and Michael Criers (Lee Tichon). Relieved to discover that he's a direct descendant of the world's most famous stake-wielder, Stan, along with his friends, sets forth to do battle with the parody horror icons. Ron 'Hellboy' Perlman stars in 'I Sell the Dead' (2008), chronicling the misadventures of two 18th century grave robbers who hunt down the roaming undead. As a young boy, Arthur Blake (Dominic Monaghan) raided coffins looking for jewellery to sell for food. From these humble beginnings, he quickly progressed to full-blown ghoulhood, aided and abetted by his mentor Willie Grimes (Larry Fessenden). But the good life soon disappears when Arthur is arrested by the towering presence of clergyman Father Duffy (Perlman) and threatened with a date with the guillotine. Now, spurred on by the promise of an endless supply of whiskey (and a sentimental attachment to his head), Arthur recounts his gory story to his captor. Bruce Campbell, star of 'The Evil Dead' and 'Spiderman' trilogies, plays himself in 'My Name is Bruce' (2007). The mining town of Gold Lick is being terrorised by Guan-di, the ancient Chinese evil spirit and protector of the dead. Infuriated by the desecration of their graves by youngsters, Guan-di has come back to protect the spirits of Chinese miners, who died in a cave-in many years before. Bruce Campbell-obssessed Jeff Graham (Taylor Sharpe), who really seems to think that Bruce can slay devils, brings him to the town and sets him loose on Guan-di. Bruce at first thinks that the whole thing is a publicity stunt, but quickly discovers the horrific truth. Does he cut and run or does he try to live up to his movie persona and become the hero in real life?
