Triple bill of action dramas, directed by Wilson Yip, based on the young adulthood of renowned martial arts teacher Ip Man (Donnie Yen), purveyor of the art of Wing Chun to students including Bruce Lee. 'Ip Man' (2008) begins in the 1930s in Foshan, a Chinese town famed for its many martial arts schools, and tells the story of Ip's growing reputation as a Wing Chun master against the backdrop of the Japanese invasion that robs him of his personal wealth and status. 'Ip Man 2' (2010) follows Ip as he flees the Japanese and moves to Hong Kong. There, he decides to set up a school for the art of Wing Chun. When a battle is won by one of his pupils, Ip clashes with a rival school master, Hung Quan (Sammo Hung Kam-Bo), who demands that he fight every martial arts teacher in the area in order to prove himself. However, when an arrogant Western boxer, Twister (Darren Shahlavi), is introduced to humiliate the local fighters at a boxing competition, they forget their differences and band together to defeat him. 'Ip Man 3' (2015) begins with Ip settling into his quiet life as a Wing Chun teacher in Hong Kong. But after a group of gangsters try to take over the city, starting with Ip's son's school, Ip is forced to step in to stop them.
