Wilson Yip returns to direct Donnie Yen in this third instalment of the biographical martial arts trilogy. Set in 1959, the film begins with Ip Man (Yen) settling into his quiet life as a Wing Chun teacher in Hong Kong. But after a group of gangsters try to take over the city, starting with Ip's son's school, Ip is forced to step in to stop them.
