The Nat King Cole Show was first aired in 1956 when NBC made history by giving an African-American his own variety show. The series ran for just over a year but the unwillingness of sponsors to have their products associated with a black man led to the show's cancellation. This DVD contains 20 songs performed by Nat on his ground-breaking show. Several of the guests who appeared on the show also feature in duets with Nat: including Ella Fitzgerald Sammy Davis Jr and the Oscar Peterson Trio.
