Stylishly shot with a jazz soundtrack, this is an atmospheric and moody British thriller set in Newcastle; the first feature to be directed by renowned theatre director and musician Mike Figgis. Brendan (Sean Bean) gets a job as a cleaner in a jazz club. Whilst chatting up an American waitress (Melanie Griffiths), he overhears two hitmen talking about putting the pressure on the club's owner (Sting) for American property dealer Cosmo (Tommy Lee Jones). When Cosmo turns up in person, it transpires that it is not only the club that he has his eyes on: the bar's waitress turns out to be his ex-girlfriend.
