1960s psychological drama in which a sex offender is released from prison but finds he can't escape his past. After being sentenced to three years in jail for abducting a ten-year-old girl with the intent of sexually assaulting her, Jim Fuller (Stuart Whitman) is released as a reformed character due to his sessions with psychiatrist Dr Edmund McNally (Rod Steiger). Moving town, Fuller gets a new job as well as a love interest in the form of secretary Ruth Leighton (Maria Schell). But when a young girl is found dead Fuller finds himself suspected of the crime because of his past conviction.
