Academy Award-winning Argentinian drama set during the time of the military dictatorship of the 1970s. Alicia (Norma Aleandro) is the wife of a successful businessman, who decides to look into the background of her young adopted daughter. While doing so she begins to unravel the hidden history of her country and discovers that her daughter may have been stolen by the authorities from one of the families of 'los desaparecidos', the 'disappeared ones', the people who dared to speak out against their government and were quietly executed. Faced with this terrible knowledge, Alicia must decide whether to continue living a lie, or whether to speak out against the depredations of the fascist government that runs her country.
