One of the funniest sitcoms ever. Almost entirely shot in a single room, it's a distillation of the pathos and bathos of daily Northern working-class life. The writing is excellent, the acting superbly realistic and underplayed. It will make you laugh out loud, snigger uncontrollably, repeat catchphrases, evoke personal memories and even shed a tear or two.
If it doesn't, you're either a stone-hearted cretin with a humour bypass or, as Jim Royle might say, a southern nancy-boy.
