THE WAY marks the third collaboration between writer/director/actor Emilio Estevez (BOBBY) and his actor father Martin Sheen (APOCALYPSE NOW). The film is the tender, poignant story of Tom, an American who arrives in France to collect the remains of his recently deceased son. Grief stricken and in search of a way to understand his son better, Tom decides to follow in his footsteps and embarks on the potentially hazardous walk through the Pyrenees that claimed the life of his boy...

Emilio Estevez writes and directs this road trip drama set along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in southern France and northern Spain. Martin Sheen stars as Tom Avery, who travels from his hometown in California to France to reclaim the body of his estranged adult son who died in a storm at the start of the famous route in the Pyrenees. Driven by grief and a desire to reach some kind of understanding of his dead son, Tom decides to embark on the 800km pilgrimage himself. Along the way he meets other pilgrims from around the world, all of whom share the search for meaning and direction in their lives.
