After playing a mild-mannered funeral home director in SIX FEET UNDER, Michael C. Hall makes a smooth transition to serial killer in this original crime drama. But the twist in this smart show is that Dexter chooses to prey only on other serial killers. As a child, Dexter is adopted by a cop (James Remar) who soon realises that his new son is no ordinary boy. Since Dexter is compelled to kill, his law-abiding father pushes him to choose his quarry in a way that will best benefit society. As Dexter grows older, he works as a blood splatter expert in Miami, giving him a close view of other murderers and their handiwork. Stylish and blackly comic, this drama is adapted from Jeff Lindsay's novel DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER. This release includes the entire first series, which largely focuses on Dexter's pursuit of the coldblooded Ice Truck Killer and his own efforts to evade detection.

Herzog leads viewers on a journey through a series of provocative conversations that reveal the ways in which the online world has transformed how virtually everything in the real world works from business to education, space travel to healthcare, and the very heart of how we conduct our personal relationships. Lo and Behold: Reveries of the Connected World opens on August 19th at the Regent Square Theater.
Long-awaited, long-overdue: The Professionals as you have never seen them before. Bodie and Doyle need little by way of introduction, but if the series had at all escaped you since its debut in 1977 their boss George Cowley, head of CI5, couldn't put it more succinctly than his opening gambit: anarchy, acts of terror, crimes against the public. To combat it I've got special men experts from the army, the police, from every service. These are The Professionals;. Featuring the perfect ensemble cast of Martin Shaw, Gordon Jackson (completely against type here) and the much-missed Lewis Collins, the series ran for 57 action-packed episodes and made an immediate impact on British and then international audiences which has sustained more than 35 years. Bad Education - written by and starring Jack Whitehall - returns to BBC3 and it’s even bigger and better than the hugely successful first series. Mathew Horne Michelle Gomez and Sarah Solemani reprise their roles in this series. They are joined by brilliant new cast additions including Harry Enfield Samantha Spiro Greg McHugh Frances Barber and Jake Canuso. Also returning are the wonderful young comedy talent in Alfie’s class. It’s a new term and Alfie Wickers (Jack Whitehall) is back as the self-styled maverick of Abbey Grove attempting to teach his class something - anything - that requires zero effort. Though Alfie’s heart’s always in the right place his judgment is often clouded by the fact he is in reality a bigger kid than any of the kids he teaches. Bad Education series two features a swimming gala a drugs awareness day that ends in utter humiliation for Alfie Fraser staging Abbey Grove’s own Take Me Out and Joe being shot in the bum. It may be a new term but it looks like Alfie hasn’t learnt a thing but his pupils still love him...
A recently restored treasure-trove of colour films from the 1940s and 1950s provides the core of The Lost World Of Tibet which allows us to see what Tibet was like before its brutal occupation by China. As members of the aristocracy and the Tibetan government in exile recall the Tibetans...world revolved around a series of colourful religious festivals taking up 68 days of the year. In The Great Prayer Festival monks take over from the government for a few days and whilst ceremoniously whipping their subjects impose fines for such offences as singing in public or having a dirty house. The film includes a revealing interview with the Dalai Lama who reminisces about how much he missed his mother and his envy for his brother who got to play with all his toys. The Dalai Lama found himself studying from his rigorous final monastic exams - which included publicly debating with his elders - at the same time that the Chinese were preparing to take over the country. 'We were just so engrossed in our little pond' recalls one interviewee. 'We knew nothing what was happening in the world what could happen. And so we lost our country.
Lee Ingleby gives a performance of thoughtful intensity as David, the titular Nature Boy in this BBC drama which combines a personal quest for an absent father with contemporary environmental themes. The first episode finds 17-year-old David in care, illustrating his love of animals and the peace he finds at a nearby wildlife reserve. Following shocking violence, and haunted by visions (recalling the strongly environmental Edge of Darkness) of his father (Paul McGann), David goes on a modern-day odyssey throughout which, like Tom Jones before him, women find his naïve innocent charm irresistible. David though, falls for environmental activist Jenny (Joanne Froggatt) and becomes involved with industrial pollution and the battle to save an ancient woodland. After the excellence of the first three episodes, the finale moves into not entirely convincing science fiction territory, and offers a resolution which raises as many questions as it answers. Nevertheless Nature Boy is an atmospheric, moving rite of passage, with something of the feel of Kes to it, which avoids simple-minded polemics, and packs a raw edge (and language) that some will find shocking. --Gary S Dalkin

Loosely based on the books by Cecily Von Ziegesar, Gossip Girl focuses on a privileged group of New York teenagers and their comparably glamorous social lives. When Serena van der Woodsen suddenly returns from boarding school with no explanation, it takes no time for tongues to start wagging. Cue "Gossip Girl", the voice behind the website gluing together all the characters in this entertaining show, who reports on what everyone in their social circle is up to. Nobody knows who is behind the site, but everyone pays attention to what it has to say. It is the website mechanic that gives Gossip Girl a new twist on its rival teen dramas. The cast, too, have plenty of punch, with the likes of Blake Lively (Serena), Leighton Meester (Blair) and Taylor Momsen (Jenny) just some of the highlights among a good ensemble. Gossip Girl is ultimately a fun, enjoyable drama that knows its target audience and hits it very well. Slickly packaged and easy on the eye, its a fine piece of television drama, and has enough here to suggest a long and successful run on our screens. --Jon Foster
