A classic head-to-head showdown ignites in Assault On Precinct 13, an all-new update of the 1976 action thriller of the same name.
An all action, guns blazing film set on New Year's Eve in Detroit. Police Sergeant Jake Roenick (Ethan Hawke), is an ex undercover cop who has been left in charge of the last shift at the dilapidated Precinct 13 police station, before it closes its doors for the last time. A snowstorm causes a bus containing a number of criminals to divert to the station. The criminals include Marion Bishop (Laurence Fisburne)a famous criminal mastermind who has fallen out with the bent cops who have been in his pay. The bent cops are led by Marcus Duvall (Gabriel Byrne), who with apparently all police force resources at his finger tips, wants to kill Bishop before he gives evidence in court blowing open the police corruption. Duvall and his "force" puts the police station under siege. Those inside unite, good cops, criminals and those caught up by mistake to defend themselves from all comers. Entertaining but far fetched. The usual twists and turns and guessing who will be alive at the end of the film, keeps you watching. Not one for those wanting something deep and meaningful to ponder on, but will occupy you happily enough for a couple of hours.
