The movie explores different levels of compromise and betrayal, yet it remains tartly amusing throughout. And it has a glorious casting inspiration: the director of the mysterious escort service is played by Mick Jagger, looking decadently elegant and purring like a vaguely satanic Siamese cat. --Robert Horton

Lukas Moodysson deftly weaves small intimate moments shared between couples and families alongside posing bigger questions about global wealth and greed to build up a portrait of contemporary society. One of the world's most visionary directors Moodysson is best known for his films Together and Lilya-4-Ever. Mammoth is his first English language feature.

  A classic example of obscure art house European cinema, Trouble Every Day is a sordid, shocking and often indecipherable examination of sexual depravity and violence. This is a deliberately difficult film--it is a full 15 minutes before anyone utters a line of dialogue--and director Claire Denis has created a world that offers the viewer little in the way of respite throughout the 90-minute duration. Both Vincent Gallo and Beatrice Dalle turn in their standard cult movie performances (long silences, staring into the distance) but in truth there are few actors so well suited to a piece of work such as this. Trouble Every Day is not for the casual viewer, suited more to real aficionados of the genre who are prepared to be challenged, shaken and more than a little appalled by every twist in the gruesome plot. --Phil Udell

Filmed in 1971 Kidd brings together a veteran western Director John Sturges the classic backdrop of the High Sierras the top notch acting skills of Robert Duvall and the rugged Eastwood as a ""hired gun"" who takes action based on his own particular sense of justice. And like a very classic western it has gunfights conflicts and a slam-bang finale which has a locomotive being driven through a saloon where the bad guys are hiding.

  Blood of the Vampires is the result of a bizarre alliance between the Filipino movie company Hemisphere and the American outfit Independent International, which yielded a series of weirdly-interconnected horror movies in the late 1960s and early 70s, most of which incorporated the word "Blood" in the title. In Blood of the Vampires a vampire mother infects her son and he runs riot on a remote estate. The hero gets killed and his ghost has to save the day. Memorable if only for the fanged old lady chained in the basement. The Filipino items are strangely fascinating vampire and mad scientist pictures with oddball colour effects and a mix of naive serial-style thrills and extreme-for-the-era sex and gore; the American efforts, from director Al Adamson, are shoddier, thrown together from off cuts of previous pictures, and are lead-paced but nevertheless curiously appealing. Gaze in awe at mutant killer trees, slobbering hunchbacked servants, faded matinee idols, stripper-turned-actress heroines with concrete blonde hairdos, evil dwarves, John Carradine or Lon Chaney, footage cut in from completely different films, Dracula and Frankenstein meeting hippies and bikers, red filters when the vampires attack, chanting natives, lurid trailers and lots of exclamation marks! --Kim Newman
