In 2025, the future of America is threatened by the activities of the Hawaiian Liberation Organisation, who are demanding independence for their island. To avoid full-scale military conflict, the dispute is to be settled by a game of Futuresport, a violent cross between skateboarding and basketball in which holding onto the ball for too long results in a massive electric shock. The mainland is represented by top athlete Tre Ramsey (Dean Cain), whilst the unscrupulous Hawaiian team receive coaching from the game's inventor, Obike Fixx (Wesley Snipes).
