Top Gun is by far the most enjoyable movie ever. This movie has it all, and I'll tell you one thing is for certain, whoever made the casting for this movie, really had a good imagination themselves, because the actors were chosen perfectly. Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Val Kilmer, Tom Skerrit, Anthony Edwards. It's a film by Tony Scott, the music score was composed by Harold Faltermeryer, it's produced by the famous Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer.
Maverick, (Tom Cruise) one of the best Fighter Pilots in the Navy, fulfils his dreams when he is transferred to Fightertown U.S.A. Alongside him and best friend, his partner Goose, Anthony Edwards, accompanies Maverick in Top Gun. Within their training, they meet Iceman, Val Kilmer, known as the best and favourite fighter pilot to join Top Gun.
Turn up the volume, get surround sound speakers, a plasma screen, a huge room, a comfortable seat, and of course, the popcorn.

great movies!
"I Heart Huckabees" is the third film from director David O. Russell (Three Kings, Flirting with Disaster) who has his tongue firmly imbedded in his cheek in this philosophical "existential comedy".
"I Heart Huckabees" tells the story of Albert (Jason Schwartzman), a disillusioned environmental activist who is convinced that a series of coincidences must have some kind of meaning. Confused, he goes to existential detectives Lili Tomlin and Dustin Hoffman, who he hires to spy on him and solve his coincidences. Albert soon becomes firm friends with Tommy Corn (Mark Whalberg), a fireman with a petroleum fixation. Albert"s rival, Brad (Jude Law), Huckabees corporate golden boy, also employs the detectives to help him and his girlfriend Dawn (Naomi Watts), the Huckabees model.
This film is funny, poignant, and at times really emotional. Excellent performances are delivered by a stellar cast, including the always excellent, Mark Whalberg and Isabelle Huppert. Particularly good are the hilarious yet tragic turns from Naomi Watts and Jude Law. Though combining comedy and philosophy doesn"t sound like much of a picnic, David O. Russell has combined unusual imagery and innovative ideas to create a perfect film.
If you like Wes Anderson, Charlie Kauffman and Paul Thomas Anderson films, you"re likely to enjoy this just as much.
A great murder series set around the streets of Brighton. This aired on tv about 8 or 9 years ago in two parts.
It is full of twists and turns, with a climatic ending that will keep you guessing.
I have been waiting for this to be released as it deserves great recogntion!
A sympathetic and genuine adaptation of the superbly written novel by Elizabeth Gaskill. True fans of the novel may not like all the changes to the story but they are in keeping, I believe, with Gaskill's tale of a feisty young woman who finds that she is not always correct in her judgements of otehrs. Provides plenty of laughs, a few tears and Richard Armitage certainly makes for a fitting Thornton! Recommended for all fans of costume dramas and good literary adaptations!
This dvd is one of the best progammes to come out of the 80s.
Quantum leap was a new and never before done programme which captuered the imagination of millions.
This dvd has everything every episode from season 1 and lots of interesting extras which you you a deeper look into the progammes characters and the making of the show.
a must buy for everyone!!!
As season 1 came to a close we were left on the edge of our seats as Jack was faced with 2 life changing events. This season opens 18 months after the events of Day 1, times have changed for both Jack and the people based in and around his life. I won't let too much slip about the story but fans will be glad to hear that along side Jack CTU regular Tony Almeda, the now President David Palmer and Jack"s daughter Kim all make a welcome return.
The storyline is this time based around a nuclear device planted within L.A. The story once again includes extravagant explosions and well timed twists which together will keep you on the edge of your sofa for literally hours at a time. With the clock always ticking you are left wondering what Jack can do next.
It won't take long for you to remember why you were hooked to season 1, and as the action unfolds and the plots thicken you remember all the reasons you decided to buy Season 2! I can't give too much away but all I will say is be prepared for more of the classic 24 moments and once you've watched all 24 episodes, and the fabulously produced DVD extras get price comparing for season 3, you will not be disappointed.
24 Is a phenominal show that cannot fail to captivate anyone who is lucky enough to feast their eyes on its expansive, emotional, thrilling, tear-jerking story lines accompanied with truely amazing acting especially from it's lead Kiefer Sutherland whos plays an extremely convincing governmental agent, Jack Bauer. And lets face it - He can do the best "stage cry" ever!
The story is filmed in real-time which makes the show so wonderfully gripping, as, in the words of Kiefer Sutherland: "Every little action become relavent, such as a long red light, when someones life is in danger....Which it almost always is."
So basically I'm not going to give away the story, but even if you are uncertain, buy this DVD! I can assure you that you wont regret it, and if you do I give you official permission to hunt me down...
And and some of the prices on here...You cant go wrong.
Just as brilliant as the quality from Carltons recent UFO dvd's I've already reviewed. And not the Thunderbirds bonus disc, this sets onus is much more, without extracts on other discs.
Again, just as brilliant as the ufo discs quality. And not like the Thunderbirds bonus disc, this sets bonus is brilliant! It features lots of interesting information.
Its hard to put into words how great Spaced really is. A comedy with bit of a drama, with fantastic acting from the likes of Simon Pegg, Jessica Stevenson, Nick Frost, Mark Heap plus the intelligent direction of Edgar Wright Spaced does not fail on any level. Take time out to notice the movie references cleverly put it for fans of cult classic movies such as Evil Dead. If you have never watched Spaced before please buy this if you are fans of Shaun of the Dead please buy this. You will not/cannot be disappointed.
With films like Rocky and Raging Bull already in the market, one wouldn't excpect anything new from another boxing film. But this isn't your usual boxing film, and it delivers far more than you would expect from it.
The beginning of the film was slow paced and it took quite a while for it to get to the main tale; Mid-way into the film, I was starting to fear that it might end up as a typical hollywood action film, and it was really building up to be one. But then something happens which adds a whole twist to the tale. This film will play with your emotions and keep you at the edge of your seat throughout the whole two hours.
One of Clint Eastwood's best films. Hilary Swank gave an outstanding performance and totally deserved the oscar that she received for her role in this film.
It's about the life of a miserable school teacher (Miles-Giamatti) who has recently failed in getting a publishing deal for his novel and his friend (Jack - Haden Church) who is about to get married in a week. Jack decides to go on a week-week long roadtrip and take Miles with him as a 'gift' for being his best man.
The film follows the events in this one week trip. Although the film isn't meant to be a total comedy, there are some very funny bits as well as some dramatic and emotional scenes.
All in all it was a great film with a satisfying ending. If you liked films like Closer and Lost in Tranlsation you will enjoy this film; But if you're more into the Action stuff or the more sleazy comedies like Meet the Fockers, you probably wont enjoy this as much as I did.
This film delivered exactly what you would expect from its great director John Pierre Jeunet. The story was gripping from start to finish and despite the long runtime, you would'nt check the time at any stage in the film.
The story is about a young girl named Mathilde (Audrey Tautou) who's lover, Manech (Gaspard Ulliel) has gone to fight for the French army. While she doesn't get any news on his condition, she never loses hope that he'll return. The film centres on the ups and downs that Mathilde goes through as she tries to find Manech during which time the film's directors expertly shed light on how they fell in love in the first place; By the end of the movie the audience will somehow find themself feeling that they're involved in the story.
This romantic tale would sattisfy anyone with different tastes with it's great action scenes and superb special effects, while still including some comic moments. If you enjoyed Amelie and you're a John Pierre Jeunet fan, this movie is among his best work, up there with the best. A must own DVD.
All L&H fans need this Collection! Almost all full length movies and shorts are here with bonus items in a neat boxed set. Classic Stan & Ollie.
The acting by the the 2 main characters is a little wooden at times but the plot, suspense and twists are better than 'Seven' and therefore merit 'top marks'. Not for those of a nervous disposition however!
If you think that asses can't sing and the HIV virus could not be the grand diva of a film musical, you've not seen this film! These absurdities come to live in song and dance, as do other virusses, visitors of a gay bathhouse, and a bunch of wildlife animals accused of spreading diseases. The story enjoyably deals with a sexologist/explorer, Richard, who's been around since the 19th century, and his current obsession of creating a museum display on Patient Zero, the flight attendant who supposedly brought AIDS from Africa. The ghost of the deceased Zero decides to help and rid him of his prejudices. The film touches on themes such as early AIDS media response and hype, to more profound ones such dealing with loneliness and death. The songs help telling the story, rather than putting it on hold, and despite the incredibility of the plot, the main characters are perfectly believable. Zero and Richard fall in love, in fact the latter is the only one who can see and touch his temporarily-returned-to- flesh subject - a clever plot device; since they are both anachronisms. In the end they must part, as Zero returns to existentional void. Shades of romantic literature and ballet here. But both men are wiser, Zero for putting an end to a ridiculous theory, and the professor for being rid of his blame-fetishizing ideas. Underestimated and very entertaining!
This time, I mean excellent! Like the dvd reviewer from Fanderson (the official Gerry Anderson appreciation society) said, one of the best transfers of a television programme to dvd yet! It is just stunning! All the care, time and effort put into these can be seen clearly!
A few things to moan about. The punctuation on the menus for some of the episodes, such as 'confetti check a-ok' which is incorrectly spelt 'confetti check aok', 'e.s.p'is written esp, 'kill straker!' as 'kill straker', 'sub-smash' as 'subsmash' and 'the psycobombs' as 'the psycho bombs. And also, though the digi stack sleeves are as stunning as the discs, thet fall out the bottom of the main sleeve on to floor every time you pick it up. The deleted scenes are what strike me most. But the final 3 seem pointless. Beacause the 2nd deleted scene from 'identified' features a complete scene in straker's office talking about the aliens death and explaining why they think they come, we whatch all this to see the only deleted part at the very end with only a UFO moving away from the screen and this UFO sepuence can be seen in many sunsequent episodes. And the final 2 from 'exposed' have many scenes from the final episode print, and the deleted parts are conversations and you can't even hear the words as the post-sync work was lost. Perhaps sub titles would help.
By the way, many of this information applies to the second set aswell as this one.
When I say good, I mean by the quality, not the series which is more than FAB! Carlton have not done such a good job on these discs as they have other Anderson series such as Captain Scarlet, Joe90 and UFO. And also the fact that the american version has erased a scene in which we see the Fireflash from 'Trapped in the sky' with a load of bits of muck over it. Thogh its quality is still better than the old 1985 Channel5 videos
The 9th disc to me is seemingly pointless as discs 1,2,3 and 8 feature extracts and so all make up almost the entire disc anyway. And it doesn't even include extra features like the bonus Captain Scarlet disc.
But all the bonus features are very good apart from the disc9 extracts.
Great to see the episodes though, and to get the discs after a long time!
This is the most brilliant film I have seen in a long time appealing to both adults and children. Excellent
